The weather was finally beautiful over the weekend, and perfect for my engagement portrait session with Jim & Emilia. They had passes for us to go into the gardens behind the Governor’s Palace in Colonial Williamsburg and it was well worth the price of admission. We spent almost two hours walking the gardens, getting photo bombed, and generally having a great time. Can’t wait until their wedding at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg next month!
LOVE weddings at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg! Even in February, it is a gorgeous venue and this sunset wedding went perfectly despite being a little chilly outside. I got to see, for the first time, sparklers during Crystal & Dave’s first dance which was pretty amazing and I look forward to seeing that again! Hats off to Dave who saw everyone was having too much fun to leave and extended the evening an hour at the last minute. Everyone danced until the music stopped and at least half of the guests were still around for the sparkler send off. Great day!
I always enjoy driving through Gloucester, and getting to see old friends, and this was a great combination of both. I was beyond excited to photograph Katie’s maternity session after photographing her wedding on my own wedding anniversary a couple years ago, and can’t wait to meet their baby next month!
In case you missed it, Two Rivers Country Club Director of Special Events Haley Hogan was on The Hampton Roads Show this morning to discuss Wedding and Reception Trends for 2014 and used the great sunset shot by HHP throughout the segment.
Great tips for any newly engaged couples!
2013 was also a great year for family and newborn portraits at Heather Hughes Photography. I got to see a lot of old friends with their quickly growing families, and meet a few new ones! With newborn portraits in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, and family portraits in Williamsburg and Yorktown, it was a great fall. Looking forward to more babies & family portraits this spring! http://www.heatherhughesphotography.com/
Taylor & Conor were married in Hilton village in Newport News and held their reception at the always beautiful Newport News Marriott. Lots of great photos from this wedding, great couple, great location, and one of the best garter catch photos I’ve ever seen! (kudos to my husband!) Ashley & Craig were married in Norfolk in the beautiful gardens at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. The weather proved to be a little unpredictable, and it rained just long enough to get everyone wet during the processional but everyone remained in good spirits and it turned out to be a beautiful day. Angie & Ernie were married at the new Hellenic Center in Williamsburg and had a beautiful Greek wedding, one of the first ones in the new church and at this new reception venue! We had a busy day, so they set aside a little time a couple days later and we did wedding portraits around Colonial Williamsburg which was really great since we rarely have more than 20 min. for portraits on the wedding day. The vintage theme has been a popular one, and beautiful bride Elisa found ways to incorporate it throughout her entire day for her beach wedding in Nags Head, NC. The rain moved us from the beach under the tent but it didn’t damper the fun and the dancing continued late into the night!
